Da war ein Juwel in meiner Hand - ... (Emily Dickinson)
Da war ein Juwel in meiner Hand -
Ich ging zu Bett -
Der Tag war warm, die Winde nüchtern -
Sagte: „’S wird gut“ -
Schalt - aufgewacht - die guten Finger,
Fort der Juwel -
Ein Amethyst-Erinnern ist - Was
Mir bleibt - Nichts sonst
I held a Jewel in my fingers -
And went to sleep -
The day was warm, and winds were prosy -
I said “’Twill keep” -
I woke - and chid my honest fingers,
The Gem was gone -
And now, an Amethyst remembrance
Is all I own.
